Meet the rats
Introduction
The rats - Origins |
Byebye ratrace...
Hello and welcome to my new website www.byebye-ratrace.com. What's it all about? What's my "mission statement"? My guaranteed 27 level MLM program to make you $3234 a day for only 2 min's and 34 seconds work on your pc?
Sorry, I'm not one of your all singing and dancing internet guru's and there's no promises in store for reading anything else in this website. No silly text highlighted in fake yellow highlighter pens and no banners or pop-ups or macromedia flash adverts. Perhaps no useful content either, but then at least I have never pretended otherwise.
My name is Jon. I'm an average looking bloke (= "guy" for people in the former American colonies).
Shoe size: 42 EUR / 8 UK
Age: shoesize + 5 if you are European or shoesize + 39 if you are from UK.
Appearance: Weathered well, but slightly squidgy around the edges.
Personality: Yes.
Apart from a visually unexciting website, what am I looking for and what is my motivation?
Like a lot of people all over this world, I'm quite frankly (sorry to my good friend Frank for misusing his name,) stuck in a rut. Once upon a time when we were young I used to look at my watch and think "Damn, it's 5 o'clock, the lights will go out soon and I will have to go home". Yep, back in those halcyon days, unencombered by the constant drizzle of e-mails, sms messages and customers trying to make cellular contact, life was simple and consisted mainly of watching "Tomorrow's world" on small black and white tv's. By the year 2000, the program's presenter Ramond Baxter assured us, humans would have endless amounts of leisure time, surrounded by jolly robots just waiting for a sign to meet our every whim.
Whilst waiting for the robots to appear, I'd settled down to a happy and fulfilling life of stressful jobs, mortgage payment struggles, long commutes and simply trying to pretend that my head was further above the water than everybody else's. At the time I thought that I moderately successful and I even owned a digital watch.
But birthdays come and birthdays go and one day, having banged my head on a low door plinth after a small spacial miscalculation, I begun to realize that I'd actually been bumping my head a lot for a long time and not even managed to get through the door to get out of the room I was in. Like many others, I began to yearn for a lifestyle where the daily routine of alarm clocks, traffic jams and repetitive work orders could be eliminated. An existence where I could have the freedom to pursue my own ideas and use the talents I wished to develop. To leave my rat race.
This website will therefore be the story of my adventures in that direction. It will also be a tribute to the many others who are attempting or have achieved their own success. I hope that you will join me and contribute to this website as a source of inspiration to all.
